Nutrition & Wellness includes classroom activities, labs and an action project. The course will be geared to the study of food and basic skills in food preparation. Topics include: menu planning, cooking methods, comparison shopping, equipment use, and safety and sanitation. In addition, Nutrition & Wellness includes food choices for good health, the U.S. Dietary Guidelines, MyPlate, wellness, nutrient information, diet analysis and the food label. Students will also be provided an understanding of different “Global Cuisines” as well as the various United States Regional Cuisines.
